Wendy A. Rickard

Hi, I’m Wendy, wife to Daren, my wonderful husband, and mom to Abby and TJ, my two amazing adult kids! Our family is made complete with our two Goldendoodle fur babies.

I love exhilarating exercise and competition. Strangely enough, huffing and puffing up a mountain or on the pickleball court, calms my soul. It reminds me that God is in complete control of my life, even the air that I breathe.

Most of my passions involve the outdoors, hiking up rugged terrain, kayaking in serene waters, and exploring God’s creation along the way. God’s canvas of color through His sunrises and sunsets inspire me to write.

I was empty inside for a long time, looking for anything but God to fill the gaping hole in my heart. God never stopped pursuing me until I was His. I know now I could never make it through this life’s sorrows without Him.

God has blessed me with a beautiful church community. I have the privilege to be a Women’s Bible study coordinator and speaker as well as opportunities to serve in other ministries. I love deep conversations with women, hearing their stories, and cultivating our love for God together.

The Caper

I was fascinated when I heard the story of the determined, little caper plant and how it thrives throughout Israel. Growing out of craggy rocks and along stone walls, it flourishes in arid locations. When a part of the caper plant is broken, it becomes stronger and grows back more quickly. Difficult to uproot or kill, this tenacious, rugged plant not only clings to life but produces a bountiful harvest of capers.

Like the caper bush, God calls us to be tenacious by clinging to Him in seasons of adversity. When life is broken, we can become stronger and bloom again.
